THESE GUYS ARE COOL! They created a custom wooden lectern with a megaphone holster and an attached sign
that read, “Say Something Nice.” The lectern was placed in public
spaces around New York and then left alone. They wanted to see what would
happen if New Yorkers were given the opportunity to amplify their
voices to “say something nice.”
My friend Darcy Toews is a rad dude. Not only is he an exceptional radio personality, but he can write a song like nobody's business!
Check out hisBlue and Gold song, or as he calls it:
'The All-Time leader in CFL touchdowns stops by the
golf hole we were playing at to listen to my "Blue and Gold" Bombers
song. Highlight of my golfing career.' - Darcy Toews
(heads up...some mild language is involved...)

Current Obsessions - August 2011
Pinterest
– love finding sites that inspire me to create awesomeness! Whether its painting, redecorating,
crafts with my son or cooking a fab supper I love it!
30
Day Shred – Yes I’m doing this. I’m
on day 16 right now and its amazing!
I’m just doing the workout and watching what I eat (a lot of people
are grossed out by the ‘green smoothie’ I drink in the morning), but I
have success! I can fit into jeans
that wouldn’t fit last month! YAY!
Friday
afternoon water parks with my son - Nothing says summer like splashing in
a wading pool on Friday afternoon.
A great way to start the weekend.
BONFIRES! I think we’ve only had maybe 2 weekends
this summer when we didn’t have a bonfire.
It’s a great chance to chat and connect and dream with my
hubby. Put the babes to bed, crack
open the s’mores and sit outside under the stars.
Planning
a holiday – I’m taking some time off at the end of the month and heading
out of town. With my inlaws. And my sis/bro-in-law and my nephew. Road trip = good times? LOL!
All
things barbecue – and that includes yummy fruity drinks. I found a great recipe for Blackberry
Limeade. Find the recipe here . Super easy and refreshing! (and yes, I found the recipe on Pinterest!)
Pink
sparkly toenails – SO MUCH FUN!
(some days I just love being a girl).
Planning
my autumn wardrobe – While on #5 I will be doing some shopping. For a hat, leather boots, a grey suit
and some other yummy autumn stuff.
I LOVE THAT SEASON!
The
latest cds from Lifehouse, 3 Doors Down and Mumford and Sons (or ear candy
as I call them…)
Reading – I really
want to read The Great Gatsby again, but can’t seem to find my copy. Oh well…off to the bookstore I go (got
any suggestions for a good second hand bookstore in the city? Email me

The Christian Cover
The discussions this morning in the office revolved around music, and eventually came around to the topic of why is it ok for Christians to cover secular music, put it on an album and have it played on the radio and Christian radio not play the original? A lot of artists do it, starting with Petra and 'God Gave Rock and Roll To You' in the '70's (original written by Argent in '68), to the more recent covers by RED of Ordinary World (originally done by Duran Duran 1993) and Sanctus Real's cover of U2's Beautiful Day.
My question to you is...do you agree? Should Christian radio stations be playing covers of secular artists done by Christian bands? If so, what makes it right?
Along that same vein...what secular song(s) would you like to see covered by Christian artists? and by who? email me
