| A Night of Music |

Hey everyone! I had a wonderful night tonight at Malvern House and Assiniboine Park! Now I'm at my desk sipping some white hot chocolate and ready to tell you all about my day! Once I found the place my first stop was Malvern House which is a house where over forty mentally challenged women live. I joined Kilcona Park Alliance Church to serve the residents there a BBQ supper and to provide some evening entertainment! After eating my 11th summer hotdog I joined the residents in some singing! A special performance was also given by Brooklyn and Kendra on violin! It was awesome to meet the residents and people from Kilcona Park Alliance, everyone was super friendly and it was a great night to get to know one another and share God's love! My second stop of the evening was Assiniboine Park to watch the Winnipeg Pops Orchestra play at The Lyric. Even getting there half an hour early wasn't a guaranteed chance at a parking spot seeing as there were TONS of people already there to watch the first concert of the 2012 Summer Entertainment Series. Something I learned when I got there was that the Pops Orchestra is actually made up of 45 volunteer musicians! How incredible! I got a chance to walk around and chat with some of the audience members and see why they had come out. Some purely for the love of music, others for a beautiful night out at the park and even some supporting friends and family in the orchestra! I may be a bit of a nerd for saying this, but I honestly don't know if I can think of anything more pleasant than laying on the grass on a cool summers night eating ice cream and listening to beautiful music! Fortunately the Summer Series is NOT a one time only event, which means I can lounge in the park listening to music all summer long!
